Local Attractions

Pembrokeshire is the perfect county for all types of holiday makers. The Pembrokeshire National Park is the only coastal national park in the U.K. and visitors will immediately see why this is considered an area of outstanding natural beauty. As well as the many lovely unspoilt beaches, nature lovers of all ages will be enthralled by the abundance of wildlife. The wildlife sanctuaries around the coast, and on many off-shore islands, are home to seals and many species of birds including puffins. Occasionally bottlenose dolphins can be seen. The area is also rich in historical interest with a heritage of castles, ancient relics, country houses and gardens, old mills and foundries, not to mention the bustling old walled town of Tenby and the extraordinary ancient cathedral town of St Davids. There are plenty of entertainment parks to amuse children and adults alike, such as Oakwood, Folly Farm and Heatherton and Anna’s Welsh Zoo.

Llanteglos is well placed for all major visitor attractions both in Pembrokeshire and across the border in Carmarthenshire. The nearest beach is Amroth, just two miles away (a few minutes drive or pleasant walk through the National Park forestry). The 186-mile long Pembrokeshire National Park Coastal Trail starts (or ends) in Amroth and will delight all walkers with its spectacular coastal scenery. For cyclists, the Celtric Trail cycle route also enters the National Park at Amroth. Other popular activities for those seeking thrills and adventure include water skiing, hang-gliding, coasteering, sailing, scuba-diving, surfing, quad-biking, kayaking and shooting. In the same village as Llanteglos there is a “Battlefield Live Laser Combat” park!  More relaxing options include golfing, fishing and horse riding.

There are many restaurants, cafes and pubs in the vicinity of Llanteglos, and throughout the county, to suit all tastes. For those requiring some retail therapy whilst here, the town of Narberth is popular for gifts, antiques, delicatessens and boutiques, and there are larger shopping centres such as those in Haverfordwest and Carmarthen. Carmarthen also has a multi-screen cinema.
